Shock absorbers are designed to reduce the bounce that a car experiences when traveling over uneven road surfaces. They also work to decrease the roll or sway that a car experiences when navigating turns. Shock absorbers reduce the amount of brake dive and acceleration squat that occurs when you hit the car's brakes and throttle.
